SOCOTRA UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site and a UNESCO Man and Biosphere Reserve. Socotra Archipelago is a group of 4 islands and 2 islets hidden in Indian Ocaean 350 km from the south of mainland Yemen. Although it covers only an area of 3,800 km2 , it is the 3 rd richest island in biodiversity with highest number of endemic species of birds in the Middle East. Its landscape, biodiversity, local language, culture and traditions are unique to the extent that it is listed as one of the 33 places on the planet a person should visit in this lifetime. It is described as the most Alien Place on Earth

Day 1: Arrival to Socotra >> Qalansiya >> Detwah Lagoon Meeting at the airport and, after visa formalities, start driving west to Qalansiya, a fishing town with traditional houses, narrow alleys and harbour full of fishing boats. After stopping at a postcard viewpoint, settle in Detwah Lagoon – a marine protected area renowned for its magical landscape. After lunch, go for a swim, walk on the beach among crab houses, enjoy the sunset… Dinner and Overnight at Detwah campsite.

Day 2: Detwah Lagoon >> Shuab >> Qalansiya >> Detwah Lagoon After breakfast, from Qalansiya Harbour take a boat to Shuab pristine beach for swimming and visiting mangroves. It is highly possible to encounter Spinner Dolphins while many birds, including cormorants, will be keeping company along the way. Around noon, start heading back and try line fishing to catch dinner for the evening. After lunch prepared by famous Abdullah the Cave Man, exploration of the lagoon and its marine life such as crabs, squid, puffer fish, rays, octopus and other friendly creatures. Dinner and Overnight at Detwah campsite.

Day 3: Detwah Lagoon >> Dixam >> Firmhin Forest >> Derhur Canyon >> Zahek/Hayf Dunes >> Aomak After breakfast, transfer to Dixam Plateau, walk the edge of the gorge to admire the lost world below, before the trek of ancient Firmhin Forest which is the last Dragon’s Blood Tree (Dracaena Cinnabari) woodland on earth. Nowhere else in the world Dragon's Blood Trees grow in such density as here – approximately 9,000 trees are in Firmhin. Local people will show how they still collect the Dragon’s Blood, the precious red resin of the trees, still used for medicinal and other purposes. Descend to Derhur Canyon for a refreshing swim in a wadi, natural canyon pool, surrounded by vegetation and palm tress. After lunch, proceed to the south of the island to witness Zahek/Hayf white sand dunes and settle in Aomak on the shores of the Indian Ocean. Dinner and Overnight at Aomak beach campsite.

Day 4: Aomak >> Di Farho Canyon >> Di Hamri After breakfast, travel North passing small villages along the way. Will cross Di Farho Canyon with lush vegetation where Frankincense, Cucumber and many Bottle (Desert Rose) trees grow and stop in a beautiful oasis with a natural fresh water pool where it is possible to refresh. The rest of the day will spend in Di Hamri Marine Protected Area which boasts one of the richest coral reefs on the archipelago. Have lunch, relax on the beach or swim and snorkel in Di Hamri Bay. Snorkeling masks will be provided while extra gear can be rented from diving center. Scuba diving equipment and private dives with Master Diver can be organized upon request. Marine species possible to see include: parrotfish, moray eels, rays, sea urchins and turtles if lucky. Dinner and Overnight at Di Hamri beach campsite.

Day 5: Di Hamri >> Qaria Lagoon >> Homhil >> Arher After breakfast, short stop at Qaria Lagoon to spot flamingos en route to Homhil Protected Area. Picturesque and easy 30min trek to the edge of Homhil while admiring the area populated with Dragon’s Blood, Bottle and Frankincense trees. Enjoy the panorama and swim in a natural pool overlooking the sea and valley below. After lunch, drive to Arher where giant sand dunes standing over 150m high have been piled up against rock faces by the violent monsoon winds. In Arher, there is a fresh creek coming out from the mountain massif and runs through the beach melting salty sea water. Relax on the green grass around the creek, swim in the sea or climb a huge sand dune to get a fantastic view over this unforgettable place. Arher is one of the best paragliding spots if you have your own equipment. Dinner and Overnight camping on Arher beach.

Day 6: Arher >> Hoq Cave >> Erissel >> Arher After breakfast, drive to Terbak village and start hiking to Hoq Cave, one of the largest in Socotra. The cave is more than 3km long with a water pool at the end. Inside, during an easy walk, you will see stalagmites, stalactites and crystalline formations, ancient writings. Once back outside, walk to the starting point and return to Arher. After lunch, stop at the meeting point between Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean and visit Erissel fishing village to ispect catch of the day. Dinner and Overnight camping on Arher beach.

Day 7: Arher >> Kalysan Gorge >> Delisha >> Hadibo After breakfast, drive to Kalysan Gorge to climb rocks, jump into the water or just swim in the natural pools surrounded by white cliffs simply enjoying the nature. After lunch, transfer to pristine white sand Delisha beach with the last chance to climb another impressive sand dune overlooking the shore. Enjoy your last double dip, swimming in the sea and desalinating yourself in a freshwater lagoon. Arrive Hadibo, visit Socotra Women’s Society for any handicraft souvenirs before checking in at the hotel. Dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight at a hotel in Hadibo.

Day 8: Hadibo >> Departure from Socotra After breakfast, a brief walk in the city, stopping at fish market, old cemetery and mosque. Transfer to Socotra airport for a flight back to civilization.

Payment Policy :

  • 25% of total package cost is required for hotel confirmation.
  • Balance 25% should be paid on or before 30 days of the travel date
  • Remaining amount to be settled latest at the time of check-in on Day 1.

Travel Tips :

  • All guests must carry a photo-identity with an address proof for check-in. Foreign nationals should present their Passport and valid visa. Indian nationals can use any of the following: Passport, Driving License, Voter ID card, or Aadhaar Card. Pan cards are not accepted.
  • Check-in time is at 14:00, and check-out is at 12:00 noon the following day.

Cancellation Policy :

  • Cancellation made between 20 days before departure 50% of the tour cost will be charged as a penalty.
  • Cancellation made between 15 days before departure, 80 % of the tour cost will be charged as a penalty.
  • 10 days less / prior / Or No show on the tour 100 % of the tour cost will be charged.
